We recently tackled an extensive home renovation project for a residential customer of ours in Seattle, and what an adventure it was! Here's a rundown of our escapades:
Demolition Derby - We started by tearing down walls in the laundry room to reveal the main plumbing stack and create more space. Upstairs, we demoed, patched, and painted a 2’x4’ area to locate the main water supply. The downstairs bedroom closet and basement cove base got the demo treatment, and we disposed of a moldy bathtub, cleaned the framing, and removed duct vents.
Plumbing Plunge - We relocated the washing machine plumbing, capped off the old system, and updated the main water shutoff. Additionally, we installed a pressure-reducing valve, replaced toilet valves in the MIL and upper units, and updated the downstairs shower valve.
Tiling Triumph - In the downstairs bathroom, we installed tiles on the shower walls, built a shower seat, and added grab bars for safety.
Electrifying Work - We removed all visible knob & tube wiring, secured loose Romex, and added nail plates in the basement. We installed circuits for the washer and dryer, ran Cat6 Ethernet cables, and added a ceiling outlet for a projector.
Flooring Finesse - We installed blocking under squeaky floors, leveled the upstairs subfloor, and cut doors to accommodate the new height.
Appliance Adventure - We moved the washer/dryer to a new location, rerouted the dryer vent, and replaced the bathroom exhaust fan.
Insulation Innovation - We installed mineral wool insulation in the basement ceiling and added a second layer of R-21 insulation for 900 square feet.
Repair Revelry - We installed RC channels, handrails, and trim for the stairs, patched and painted around the stairwell, and painted the skirt board trim.
Drywall & Painting Prowess - We installed QuietRock sound-reducing drywall in the basement ceiling and patched walls opened for plumbing and electrical work. Finally, we painted the basement walls and ceilings with Sherwin-Williams Casablanca.
This project was a whirlwind of activity, and we’re proud to have transformed this home with style and efficiency. If your home needs rescuing, you know who to call!
